Exploring Sacred Spaces

This week 1st Year students visited a variety of sacred spaces across the city as part of their World Beliefs short course. The first stop was to a Sikh Gurdwara, where students enjoyed snacks and learned about equality and service. Next to a Buddhist temple, where students were met by a Master from Birmingham who spoke about mindfulness and Buddhist New Year, and kindly gifted each student a bracelet. Lastly they visited Monkstown Church of Ireland Church and St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, where they explored the different traditions of Christian worship.

The aim of the trip was to help students experience different sacred spaces and world views. Students asked thoughtful and enthusiastic questions throughout the day, showing great curiosity!
