Nurses

Currently there are two nurses who job-share the position of school nurse in the school, Nola Lambert and Avril Lahiffe. The nurse’s room is located on the second floor of the Red Brick Building (RB8) opposite the lift.

The role of the nurse is to provide nursing care for students and staff with as little impact on class time as possible, and to liaise with parents, teaching staff and management as deemed necessary.

Alongside this the nurses promote a healthy, caring environment and healthy lifestyles. They are part of the Student Support Team which meets weekly to offer pastoral support to those students who are struggling in different ways.

Other areas in which they assist in include: anti-bullying and substance misuse committee, critical incident team, self-harm policy and staff welfare committee. They also supply and maintain first aid boxes for the sports coaches and trips away. The HSE come into school twice yearly for vaccination programmes and they would help facilitate this.

The school would ask parents to keep the nurses updated of any medical issues which may arise during their son / daughter’s time in Newpark. Please email nurses@newparkschool.ie if you wish to communicate with the Nurses.

We would ask that if your son / daughter is feeling unwell during the school day that you ask them to come straight to the nurse and not to ring you to come and pick them up. If the nurses need to send the child home they will contact you directly.
