On Tuesday 15th September, our 5th and 6th Year Drama, Film and Theatre students attended a screening of the film Pressure, directed by Andrea Maras, at IMC Dun Laoghaire as part of their course.
The historical drama focuses on the World War II meteorologist responsible for predicting the weather conditions for the D-Day landings. The students responded very positively to the film, with many noting the engaging performance of lead actor Andrew Scott.
During the screening, students analysed the specific cinematic techniques utilised by the director. While the 5th Year cohort focused on their personal responses to a live cinema experience, the 6th Years will use the film as a primary source of inspiration for their own upcoming creative project: the production of a short film.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience cinema on the big screen, develop their critical understanding of film, and gather inspiration for their own creative work.
